Cuba's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Pedro Luis Pedroso.

United Nations, January 18 (RHC)-- Given the complex world panorama, a stronger, more united, and supportive Group of 77 (G77) and China is needed, in firm defense of its principles and interests.

This is what Cuba's permanent representative to the United Nations, Pedro Luis Pedroso, said at the virtual ceremony on Monday of transferring the group's presidency from Guyana to the Republic of Guinea.

The ambassador also reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to the goals and principles of the G77 and China, and with the construction of a more just and united world, where no one is left behind.

According to the Cuban diplomat, it is now up to the bloc 'to lead our peoples' interests and aspirations in the current complex international context,' based on a strengthened multilateralism and greater international cooperation and solidarity.

We must continue working in the search for efforts to achieve a more just and equitable international order, the Cuban diplomat stressed.

Pedroso recalled that the G77 and China represent more than half of the world's population and two-thirds of the UN member states.

Our diversity is our strength, he said.
