Havana, June 10 (RHC) –- The setting up of biotechnological plants to replace chemicals in agriculture is a priority for the Bio-Pharmaceutical Labs Company LABIOFAM.

Company director Jose Antonio Fraga said the strategy aims at producing organic food free of toxic substances that favor human health and the environment.

The plants, thus far set up in three Cuban provinces, will reproduce microorganisms that will help the soil nutrients, control pests without affecting the crops, animals or human beings.

Similar facilities have been set up by Labiofam in Venezuela, Argentina, Honduras, China and Vietnam, while the project opens its way in Ethiopia and Tanzania as well.
