Havana, June 14, (RHC), -- Cuban vice-president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, visited a group of social works being developed in the western province of Artemisa, venue of the upcoming 26 of July national celebrations.

Among the facilities is a general hospital, whose intensive care unit is being expanded and remodeled, while the center is currently offering 21 different medical services.

Also part of the visit’s agenda was a sports center located in a community named La Matilde, cradle of most participants from the province at the historic 1953 assault on the Moncada garrison.

Diaz-Canel also toured a mausoleum built in honor of the martyrs of the province, which is also being refurbished and he called for the rescue of symbolic institutions in the territory, such as a provincial library and the local movie theater.

Artemisa province was appointed the main venue of national celebrations on July 26 for the social and economic efforts and achievements of its workers over the past year.
