Ecuadorian Vice President Announces Visit to Cuba

Havana, July 4 (RHC) –- Ecuadorian Vice President Jorge Glas has announced in Quito that he will visit Cuba next week to learn about the island’s agri-industrial sector and that he will meet with President Raul Castro.

In statements to Prensa Latina news agency, the vice president said that Ecuador is planning to build a plant to produce biological products for agriculture and to expand agricultural mechanization, as part of a change in the country’s productive patterns.

The top Ecuadorian official added that during a two-day visit he will also consider bilateral cooperation in the field of education and health care and visit civil works being built by Ecuadorian military engineers in eastern Santiago de Cuba.

Quito and Havana maintain close bilateral relations that include projects in the areas of health with the training of Ecuadorian doctors and the service being offered in that country by Cuban medical specialists.
