Cuba Attends Meeting of International Seabed Authority in Jamaica

Kingston, July 18 (PL-RHC) -- A Cuban delegation is taking part in the 20th Meeting of the International Seabed Authority, in session in Kingston, Jamaica to discuss several issues of common interest to member states of the body.

Running until July 25 at the Conference Center in this capital, the meeting aims at preventing, curbing and controlling marine pollution and adopting measures to protect natural resources.

Local media reports highlight Cuba's efforts as one of the 165 member countries of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea in defense of marine resources in the area as humankind common heritage.

This event, which is traditionally held in Jamaica every year, allows the discussion of reports presented by Seabed Authorities leading to adopt strategies to secure the conservation of the marine environment and natural resources.
