Havana, October 30 (RHC)-- Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel visited the Martin Luther King Jr. Center in Havana on Tuesday to learn about local efforts by that Christian organization in support of the social and economic transformations underway in the country.
Diaz-Canel stressed the contribution by the center to the local community and he was interested in the methods it applies in the benefit of civic education and its research studies on new religious movements, the Cuban news agency reported.
The center's work inspires and consolidates the conviction in favor of human improvement by forming more educated citizens and with higher capacity to contribute to our social project, said Diaz-Canel.
During his tour of the facilities, the top government Cuban official was updated on several programs enhancing solidarity, promoting reflection and on the social and theological formation of the people and their
Diaz-Canel said this was his first meeting with actors in the field of community and social work, which has social impact.
The director of the Center, Reverend Raul Suarez said that the programs and the mission of his entity focus the benefit of the Cuban people, their history and national identity, based on their culture and on the ethical values of the Revolutionary movement.
