Havana, December 19 (RHC) -– Cuba and Algeria signed important accords on Thursday to boost cooperation in the fields of tourism and pharmaceuticals during the last session of the 19th Intergovernmental Commission.

The signing of the final act of the forum was presided over by Cuban Foreign Investment and Trade Minister Rodrigo Malmierca and by Algerian Health, Population and Hospital Reform Minister Abdelmalek Boudiaf.

Havana and Algiers agreed to also deepen cooperation in the health sector and expand it to new areas, such as water resources and start the exchange in agriculture and sports.

The Algerian minister stressed the results of the commission and the working program for next year and said they are looking forwards to hold the next commission in his country.

Cuba and Algeria maintain bilateral cooperation relations since 1963 particularly in the health sector. At present, over 800 Cuban specialists are offering their services in primary health care centers, oncology and eye hospitals in that country.
