Miami, February 18 (RHC) -– Jose Ramon Cabañas, the current head of the Cuban Interests Section in Washington, DC was the keynote speaker at a Manatee County Chamber of Commerce meeting in the U.S. state of Florida.

The meeting focused on investment opportunities for local companies in Cuba, as well as Cuba's new seaport and the changing socio-political climate.

The meeting occurs against the backdrop of increased U.S. interest in Cuba, following the recent thaw in relations between the two countries and the easing on restrictions on travel and trade, which could be further expanded by presidential and congressional action.

Jose Ramon Cabañas could soon become the first formal Cuban Ambassador for Cuba in the U.S. since the 1960's. This as the two countries are holding bilateral talks to discuss the establishment of embassies as soon as possible.
