Geographers' Event in Cuba Focus on Climate Change and Urban Development

Havana, April 8 (RHC) Mitigation of climate change and urban design are among the main topics on the third day of sessions of the 15th Meeting of Latin American Geographers.

The forum, running up to Friday, April 10, included a keynote speech on Wednesday by Puerto Rican Jose Seguinot titled "Concepts and paradigms of medical geography used in developing an adaptation and mitigation plan to climate change in the Caribbean."

Globalization, integration and territorial dynamics, rural areas, agriculture and food security, and environmental issues, climate change and risk management are among the issues of the forum's agenda.

Cartography and geographic information technologies, tourism and heritage, population, gender and identity are also included in more than 4,000 papers submitted by participants in the scientific event.

The event is organized by the University of Havana and takes place on campus.
