Havana, April 14 (RHC) -– The government of Cuba officially recognized Monday the work of Cuban medical professionals who traveled to West Africa to provide medical care to those afflicted with the deadly Ebola virus.

“During this event, we feel a mixture of emotions, satisfaction, humanism, patriotism, and pride –- thanks to what you have done in these sister lands,” said Cuban Vice President Mercedes Lopez, who shared the event in Havana.

Responding to a call by the United Nations, Cuba sent over 200 medical professionals to Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia to provide front-line care and training.
