La Paz, April 16 (RHC)-- Bolivian President Evo Morales said that Cuba is not a terrorist state, and therefore it should have never been included on any U.S. blacklist of countries that supposedly sponsor international terrorism.

On the contrary, said Morales, Cuba has been an example of the solidarity that should prevail among all nations and peoples of the world.

"Cuba has never been a terrorist state. Cuba has always been a peace-loving country that has showed its solidarity with the rest of the world. When the United States included Cuba on its list of terrorist States, it made a big mistake,” commented Evo Morales during a press conference in La Paz.

The Bolivian head of state recalled that as a lawmaker, he visited Cuba and was impressed by what he called 'the high level of safety' on the streets.

When asked about the new rapprochement between the United States and Cuba, he stressed that problems between Washington and Havana will be resolved when the United States lifts its blockade policy against the Caribbean island nation and returns the illegally occupied territory at Guantánamo to its legitimate owners: the Cuban people.

President Morales said Washington has not changed its imperialist nature and added that while it tries to normalize relations with Cuba, it is also, on the other hand, imposing sanctions on Venezuela. By doing this, President Morales said, Washington is clearly and openly trying to divide member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA).
