Miami, May 12 (RHC) -– Spanish maritime firm Balearia has asked the U.S. Treasury Department for permission to run a ferry from Florida to Cuba, the South Florida Business Journal reports.

Two companies, Havana Ferry Partners of Fort Lauderdale and Baja Ferries USA, recently received approval for ferry service to Cuba.

According to the report, Balearia wants to use its Pinar del Rio vessel, which formerly ran a Florida-Bahamas route, for high-speed service between Port Everglades and Key West to Havana.
