Johannesburg, May 19 (RHC) -– Cuba has been our friend in good and bad times, said Pan-African Parliament member Laura Mcleod-Katjirua during a session of that organization.

The Namibian parliamentarian expressed her admiration and gratitude to the Cuban people for their contribution to the liberation of her country. “We received the support of the Cuban combatants, which was a chapter of history that will never be forgotten.”

Mcleod-Katjirua, who is the governor of the Namibian region of Khomas, said even now when Namibia is independent still makes use of Cuban human resources, particularly doctors, nurses and teachers.

This relation is growing stronger, said the parliamentarian who is also deputy secretary general of the ruling party, SWAPO, or the South West Africa People's Organization.
