Havana, November 15 (RHC)-- The new Labor Code to be debated by the next session of the National Assembly of Peoples' Power is aimed at defending the interests of the working class and the Revolution, without whose support no labor achievement is possible, said National Assembly President Esteban Lazo.

Lazo was reviewing with Assembly deputies and other officials the proposals presented by workers for approval, especially those linked to salaries and productivity, labor conditions and worksite discipline.

Ulises Guilarte, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the forthcoming Congress of the Cuban Trades Union, pointed out that Cuban workers have submitted thousands of proposals to modify, add or eliminate items in the Code, emphasizing that all of the proposals were given due consideration.

Some 489 Assembly deputies and 186 especially invited guests attended the Review Panel sessions and issued 210 proposals and recommendations in what is considered a clear example of the democracy that reflects the system of Government in Cuba.

The Commission will issue a final document that will be sent for further discussion and approval to the National Assembly of Peoples Power.
