Pope Francis to Visit Havana, Holguin and Santiago de Cuba

Havana, June 30 (RHC)-- Vatican authorities, the Cuban government and the Cuban Conference of Catholic Bishops have agreed on the visit agenda of Pope Francis, set for September 19th through the 22nd.

Pope Francis will begin his visit to Cuba on Saturday, September 19th in Havana, where he will receive a warm welcome from top government officials and Havana residents.

The next day, September 20th, the pontiff will hold Mass at the iconic José Martí Revolution Square. He will pay a courtesy visit to Cuban President Raul Castro and will also meet first with priests, parishioners and seminarians at the Havana Cathedral and later, with young Cubans at the Félix Varela cultural center.

On Monday, September 21st, the visiting Bishop of Rome will travel to eastern Holguin province, where he will hold Mass at the "Calixto García Iñiguez" Revolution Square. He will then travel to Santiago de Cuba, where he will give a third Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Charity, Cuba's Patron Saint, shortly before concluding his visit on Tuesday, September 22nd.
