Hanoi, July 3 (RHC) -- Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang has welcomed the restoration of formal diplomatic relations between Cuba and the United States, calling the move one of the main achievements of the Caribbean country in recent times.

The statement was made by the Vietnamese president after receiving in Hanoi the president of Cuba's People's Supreme Court, Ruben Remigio Ferro, who is paying a working visit from June 30th to July 5th.

Meanwhile, the Alianza Martiana (AM) coalition of solidarity with Cuba organizations, also expressed their joy for the restored ties between Havana and Washington.

In a statement, the organizations said that there is still a long road ahead in the process of normalization between the two countries, and that success will exclusively depend on the U.S. government.
