Havana, July 17 (RHC)-- The Tenth Congress of Cuba's Young Communist League, the UJC, got underway today in Havana with the participation of 500 delegates and hundreds of invited guests. Cuban President Raul Castro and the Cuban Five were on hand at the opening session of the Congress Friday morning.

Over the next few days, young people are meeting with officials of institutions and ministries to discuss different topics of national interest, as well as projections of the Caribbean nation toward the development of new communications technologies.

During the 10th Congress, which runs through Sunday, young people will meet in five committees where they will discuss current changes in the political, cultural and educational systems.

At the closing ceremony of the Congress on Sunday, a huge concert will be held by several national artists. There will also be the presentation of an album dedicated to the Congress and the launching of a book entitled “Reasons to Fight and Win.”
