Havana, Aug 8, (RHC), -- Cuban authorities are currently finalizing preparations for Pope Francis' visit to Cuba on September 19-22.

At Havana's Revolution Square, a group of workers continue the erection of the altar for the mass that the Supreme Pontiff will officiate.

Besides, they are building a platform for the choir that will sing at the ceremony and two others for the media. There will also be a space with around 4,000 seats for special guests.

In a recent meeting of the National Assembly of People's Power, Cuban President Raul Castro said: "starting right now, we are getting ready to welcome Pope Francis in September, with affection, respect and hospitality, as he deserves."

The Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church will begin his apostolic trip on Saturday, September 19 in Havana, where the Cuban Government and the people will welcome him.

The Pope will say goodbye at the airport in Santiago de Cuba on September 22.
