Havana, October 6 (RHC)-- United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan opened an embassy in Havana on Monday during his official visit to the island.

The brief ceremony was attended by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez. Prior to the opening of the diplomatic mission, Rodriguez and Al-Nahyan signed a cooperation accord on air services.

The Cuban foreign minister stressed the good state of bilateral relations between the two countries and ratified the island's support of Arab causes in their struggle for independence and territorial integrity.

Meanwhile, the Arab visitor expressed satisfaction for the inauguration of an embassy of his nation in Cuba. “I think that after 13 years of bilateral relations, we must take a further step to consolidate these links, and a proof of this is the opening of the diplomatic mission,” he noted, adding that he was sure that bilateral relations will further strengthen in the future.
