Havana, October 8 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez held official talks Wednesday with his visiting counterpart from the Republic of Chad, Moussa Faki Mahamat.

The two sides reviewed the state of bilateral ties and expressed their governments' determination to further strengthen them.

Bruno Rodríguez noted that relations with Chad and the African continent are a priority for Cuba, and expressed thanks for the country's enduring solidarity and willingness to continue developing ties with the Caribbean state.

Foreign Minister Rodriguez stressed that Cuba will continue to defend the interests and aims of Africa in international forums and organizations.

For his part, Chad’s foreign minister emphasized Cuba’s example of independence and resistance. He also noted the necessity to continue working to end the U.S. blockade imposed on Cuba, given that the Caribbean state has not only fought for Chad’s independence but also for that of other African countries, including Angola.

After the meeting, two cooperation agreements were signed. The first was a Collaboration Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Cuba and the Government of the Republic of Chad regarding the reciprocal abolition of visas in diplomatic, special, service or official passports. The second agreement concerns Regular Diplomatic Consolations between the two Foreign Ministries.
