UNASUR Secretary General Ernesto Samper Arrives in Havana

Havana, January 22 (RHC)-- The Secretary General of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) and former Colombian President Ernesto Samper has arrived in Havana, where he will take part in a forum on the legacy of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti.

Over 600 researchers and academics from 45 countries will attend the forum, which begins on Monday, January 25th, and is sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The forum is part of an international program to mark the 163rd birthday anniversary of Cuba's National Hero.

The conference will provide the opportunity to share concerns and ideas on the current global crisis and the challenges faced by humanity.

In addition to his participation in the forum, Ernesto Samper has expressed his desire to meet with Colombian government and FARC rebel negotiators during his visit to Cuba.
