Madrid, January 23 (RHC)-- Cuban Tourism minister Manuel Marrero stressed in Madrid the island´s commitment to consolidate its relations with foreign entrepreneurs.

In statements to PL news agency, the minister said that his country will never renounce its principles and values and that in the face of a possible US business approach, Cuba will never turn its back to those who gave their hand in difficult times.

“Those who remained in our country contributing to our tourist development, even under the pressure of successive US administrations, will always count on Cuba´s support over others, no matter how renowned they may be,” Marrero said.

The minister described as very important the attendance by Cuba of Madrid´s 36th International Tourism Fair, which opened this week and is considered one of the best in the world.

He recalled that Cuba registered a 17.4 percent increase of its tourist sector in 2015, after three million 525 thousand foreign vacationers picked the island as their holiday destination.

Marrero announced that Cuba is now considering 12 proposals issued by foreign companies, most of them from Spain, to build hotels in Havana, to cope with increasing demand of accommodations in the Cuban capital.
