Russian Patriarch Kiril and the Cuban historical leader Fidel Castro

Havana, February 15 (RHC)-- Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro says that fighting for peace is the duty of all human beings.

In an article published in Granma newspaper on Monday, Fidel recalls that nearly all religions have regretted the destruction and terrible consequences of wars and emphasized the importance of the recent meeting in Havana of Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill, which has brought hope to all the nations of the world.

The Cuban leader recalls that thousands of nuclear weapons are still threatening humanity.  He notes that preventing the most brutal war that can ever occur has undoubtedly been the main objective of religious leaders like Pope Francis and His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.

Fidel Castro writes that fighting for peace is the most sacred duty of all human beings, regardless of the religion they profess or the country where they are from or the color of their skin.
