Mayor of Washington D.C. Praises Cuba's Health Care System

Havana, February 23 (RHC)-- Muriel Bowser, the Mayor of Washington D.C. has praised Cuba's health care system, particularly the countless programs implemented by the Caribbean country to improve health indicators at home, as well as abroad.

At a press conference in Havana on Monday, the U.S. mayor said she has had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the Cuban primary health care system, how it works and how it is constantly improved.

The U.S. politician described the planned visit of President Barack Obama to Cuba in March as a crucial step to advance relations between the two countries.

Mayor Muriel Bowser concluded what she called her exploratory visit to Cuba on Tuesday.  She said the aim was to identify ways of boosting mutually beneficial cooperation in such sectors as construction, transport, biotechnology, banking, education and health.
