Havana, March 2 (RHC)-- The Richmond City Council, in the U.S. State of California, has passed a resolution urging the lifting of Washington's economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba.

The resolution, which calls for an end to the over 50 year-old policy, was submitted to a city council meeting on Tuesday by Councilwoman Gayle McLaughlin. It has the support of Tom Butt, the current Mayor of Richmond.

According to a news release issued by the International Committee for Peace, Justice and Dignity, Gayle McLaughlin, who is a former mayor of Richmond, California, said: “In passing this resolution, we are joining the vast majority of people in the United States, who advocate a shift in U.S. policy towards Cuba.”
