Hanoi, March 7 (RHC-PL)-- In Hanoi on Sunday, Cuba stated that the strengthening of the leadership of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) is a need that cannot be postponed in view of the offensive of the neo-liberal policies and its negative impact among the workers.

A call was made by Secretary General of Cuba's main workers union (CTC), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, in the final session of a meeting of the Presidential Council of the WFTU, attended by representatives from about twenty countries.

He cited figures provided by the International Labor Organization, according to which there were 200 million jobless worldwide last year, 30 million more than in 2008, besides an increase in informal labor, underemployment and their poor conditions, mostly affecting the youngsters and women.
