Havana , December 28 (RHC).-- Cuban antiterrorist Gerardo Hernandez has been deprived of his right to visits as a result of a decision by authorities at the Victorville Prison, a measure that affects all inmates in that US penal Institution.

The Coordinator of the International Committee for the Release of The Five, Mrs. Alice Jrapko, told the press that when a group of friends of Gerardo went to visit him at Victorville they found a notice in the main entrance to the penal institution reading that all visits to prisoners had been canceled until further notice.

A crowd of visitors that gathered at the entrance to the penal institution included many children, sons and daughters of Victorville inmates.

“We were unpleasantly surprised, along with relatives of other prisoners, by this unexpected and cruel decision”, Mrs. Jrapko said.

It is incredible, she said, the lack of compassion of prison authorities and their repressive system against grieving mothers and fathers, wives, sons and daughters and other relatives of inmates, who are forced to pay collectively for the sins of one or more prisoners.

Gerardo Hernández was sentenced by a Miami court to two life sentences plus 15 years in prison. And this additional measure passed on Gerardo Hernández, which deprives him of his right to visits, only makes us reaffirm our will to continue the international campaign to obtain his release and that of his three compatriots still imprisoned in US jails, said Jrapko.
