The United Nations Children’s Fund –UNICEF- is sponsoring the First Step Hip Hop Festival, scheduled for June 12 and 13, dedicated to children and adolescents.

During the festival at Havana’s América Theater, Cuban children and teenagers  will have the chance of showing their skills in the different forms of the hip hop culture, including rap, graffiti, dj, break dance.

Professional performers, including rappers, dancers, djs and graffiti artists, will also show the development of that artistic movement which emerged in the United States at the end of the 1960’s.

Hip hop in Cuba has turned into a social and cultural phenomenon, whose growth has been significant since its emergence at the end of the 1980’s.
