Latest Cuban film premiers in Havana
The film Irremediablemente juntos or Hopelessly Together by Cuban director Jorge Luis Sanchez, better known by his famous movie El Benny, premiered in Havana’s Charles Chaplin Movie Theater.
Featuring young Cuban actors Ariadna Nuñez and Orian Suarez in the leading roles, the musical film tells the story of Liz and Alexander, an interracial couple not accepted by some people.
The movie is based on the musical theatre play Pogolotti-Miramar, exposing a racial conflict in which music is not used as a simple background; it is actually one of the protagonists. The film includes 31 musical scenes, 27 singers, 12 choreographic pieces and 100 dancers.
The photography is by experienced director José Manuel Riera, edition by Manuel Iglesias, sound design by Osmany Olivares and music direction by Juan Manuel Ceruto.
Outstanding Cuban musicians, such as Tony Ávila, Eduardo Ramos, Alfredo Felipe, Silvio Alejandro, Pedro Beritán, Nelson Valdés, Fidel Díaz, Fernando Bécquer, Maristania Estévez and Juan Manuel Ceruto contributed to the movie’s soundtrack.
