Cuba Reiterates Firm Commitment against Torture at United Nations

Havana, May 25 (RHC)-- A report by Cuban Deputy Attorney General to the United Nations Rafael Pino Bécquer denounces the misinformation campaign that the United States finances and promotes against Cuba’s penal and justice systems.  The report reiterates Cuba’s commitment against all kinds of abuses, as part of its obligation as a state that signed the Convention against Torture and other Cruel, Inhumane or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.

German Parliamentarians Demand U.S. Release of the Cuban Five

Berlin, May 24 (RHC) -- German parliamentarians demanded that U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder act in favour of the release and return to Cuba of the Five antiterrorists condemned to long unjust sentences in the northern country. In a letter sent to the U.S. Justice Department through the German Embassy in Washington, 17 federal signatory legislators, all members of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, also expressed great concern over the progress and outcome of the legal proceedings against these five men.
