Confronting Illegality: Prominent Role of the Community PDF Print Write e-mail
By leandro

Cardinal issues of national life will be discussed by Cuban deputies in the commissions as part of the 9th Session of the Seventh Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power, convened for July 23rd.

Among the issues to be addressed by legislators in commissions before July 23rd include the results and actions on confronting crime, vandalism, social indiscipline and corruption.

Although the existing social project supported by the majority of people highlights the values of modesty, dignity, decency and principles, some citizens, often in positions of hierarchy, divert the proper course and incur in violations and illegalities.

Although this is not a widespread problem, any expression to that effect in the production and services causes serious damage to the economy and, especially, they damage the moral order that should prevail in a socialist society.

On this topic, the same negative impact falls on corruption, a phenomenon that can never be justified, even by the fact that Cuba is going through tense material needs due to external conditions, such as the U.S.blockade, and internal weaknesses.

While facing it with courage and firmness, the Cuban authorities are studying the various causes of corruption.

In addition, many state institutions full of experiences, consistency and clarity of their purposes according to these times have been also created, such as the Comptroller’s General Office of the Republic.

This entity has the strategic mission of helping the National Assembly and the Council of State in compliance with the constitutional mandate to exercise control of all State agencies and the Government.

Its work is crucial to tackle corruption, a deviation present worldwide that in the case of Cuba is on an administrative level and is primarily related to the business area.

The CubanStateand Government have defined the policy to be followed to prevent and address the manifestations of corruption, based on existing laws.

As part of this effort, both entities emphasize on the improvement of systems for prevention, control and confrontation against corrupt demonstrations, whether they may be classified or not as a real crime.

It is shown that a fragile administration, the negligence, the inefficiency of some managers along with the lack of a comprehensive financial operation of certain businesses, promote the commission of compromising offenses against the resources of the community and the nation.

Cubacan only move forward more confidently towards its targets of economic development and elevation of spirituality if it strengthens the proper atmosphere of order, discipline and ethics.

Cuban deputies will be discussing how to strengthen this complex framework in their next parliamentarian meetings.

Solidarity with Cuba PDF Print Write e-mail

In the month of July, which has a special meaning in the Cuban people's struggle for their independence by commemorating the anniversary of the Moncada Garrison Attack, solidarity with the Cuban Revolution comes from all over the world.

Africa, the continent that Cubans are inextricably linked to by their roots and their support for their struggle for sovereignty, has reiterated its call for the U.S.government to put an immediate end to the criminal and inhuman economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Caribbean island.

The Heads of States of the African Union unanimously approved in Addis Ababa resolution condemning this illegal blockade that has caused pain and suffering for Cuban families and economic losses of more than 975 billion dollars over these 50 years.

In Managua, the Nicaraguan capital, celebrating the 33rd triumph of the Sandinista Revolution, social movements in Latin America and the Caribbean also expressed their support for the Cuban people's resistance, while noting the Cuba’s spirit of solidarity and humanism.

For the economist Orlando Núñez, advocating for the rights of the Cuban nation also means defending the popular revolution in Nicaragua.

Without the support of Cuba and Venezuela, he pointed out, the current progress and results of the Sandinista government in terms of improvements for the population through various programs of social nature would have been very difficult.

The world demand for the lifting of the US blockade against Cuba since 1962, has also found resonance in the northern country, in the voices of those who accompany the Thirty-third Caravan of Pastors for Peace, which will arrive in Havana on July 21st with its humanitarian aid.

More than 60 activists from the U.S., Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom and Mexico make a stop over each night in a different city to update the public about the negative impact of the US siege on Cuba’s sensitive areas such as health and education.

The truth is that the journey that made from Canadian and U.S.territory since 1992 has made many citizens more aware of the injustice of Washington's hostile policy toward Cuban people, which under the Barack Obama’s administration has maintained and even strengthened.

The international community also strongly pronounced in the UN headquarters in New York every year since 1992, against this genocidal measure and its extraterritorial character that affects third states.

Thus, last year for the twentieth consecutive time, the world voted against the US blockade and 86 nations expressed their conviction, which showed once again the U.S.isolation.
