Vietnam´s Communist Leader Wound up Official Visit to Cuba
Havana, April 13 (RHC)—The general secretary of Vietnam´s Communist Party Nguyen Phu Trong departed Cuba on Friday after a five-day official visit that included meetings with President Raul Castro and Revolution leader Fidel Castro.
Phu Trong was seen off at Havana´s Jose Marti International Airport by Jose Ramon Balaguer, member of the Secretariat of Cuba´s Communist Party Central Committee.
During his stay on the island, the Top Vietnamese communist party official paid homage to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti and he was awarded the Jose Marti Order, the top distinction granted by the Cuban Council of State.
During a visit to the Havana harbor, Phu Trong announced the donation to Cuba of 5000 tons of rice on behalf of the Vietnamese people and government in a gesture of solidarity with the Cuban people.
Nguyen Phu Trong was accompanied by Pham Quang Nghi, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Vietnam´s Communist Party; Nguyen Thien Nhan, member of the party´s Central Committee and foreign minister Pham Binh Minh, among other officials.
