Ramiro Valdés Presides Over 55th Anniversary Act of Battle of Uvero
Guamá, Santiago de Cuba, May 29 (RHC) -- An act was held for the 55th anniversary of the Uvero battle, which strengthened the Rebel Army and its possibilities of victory. The event was held at the location of the battle, with a group of participants lead by Revolutionary Commander Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, Vice-President of the Council of State and Ministers and member of the Political Bureau.
Valdés Menéndez, along with combatants Miguel Ángel Luis Maceira, Orestes Álvarez Calunga, Rolando Larrea and Antonio Béquez, presented a floral wreath in the name of the Cuban people, before the monument in honor of the seven revolutionaries who died in the battle. Also present at the event were Onelio Aguilera Bermúdez, member of the Central Committee and head of the general division of the Eastern Army, and Reinaldo García Zapata, president of the provincial government body, along with family members of the martyrs from the Battle of Uvero.
