New Trade Options between Cuba and the Dominican Republic Being Explored
Santo Domingo, May 31 (RHC) Cuban officials from the Foreign Trade and Investment Ministry stated that the Cuban policy seeks to widen its exchange with other Caribbean nations, which is a similar goal of the Dominican Republic. At a meeting between the Cuban Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Alexis Bandrich, and specialists Jesús Gonzálex, from the Direction of Latin America and the Caribbean from that ministry, and Belsis Llorente, from the International Economics Organization, they discussed increased bilateral trade.
Gonzalez said the Cuban-Dominican trade already reached $81 million this year, which is an increase from 67 million in2011.This amount establishes the Dominican Republic as Cuba's largest trading partner in the Caribbean,aside from the Cuban exchange with the joint members of the Caribbean Community (Caricom).
