Intense Rains Cause Flooding in Various Cuban Provinces
Havana, June 2 (RHC) Strong rains in Cuba over the last several days have caused flooding in the Western provinces of Mayabeque, Matanzas, and Pinar del Río, where two tornados and severe local storms were also registered.
As soon as the harsh weather began, local authorities began to apply preventative measures, particularly the evacuation of people in dangerous zones. According to a report by the Meteorology Institute, heavy rains will continue during the next several hours, especially in Eastern Cuba. Last week, the central province of Sancti Spíritus was hit by intense rains that provoked landslides and flooding, collapsed housing, damages to crops, and two disappearances.
