Cuban First Vice President Calls for Speedy Recovery from Heavy Rain Damage
Havana, June 9 (RHC)-- Cuban First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura toured several economic entities severely damaged by recent rains in the central province of Sancti Spiritus and called on workers speed up recovery work and get the most out of improved weather conditions.
The top Cuban official was given a detailed explanation by local authorities about the damage inflicted in the province by the natural phenomenon that occurred in late May, according to the daily Granma newspaper.
“We need to work 24-7 now that we are in spring,” said Machado referring to the good weather which favors recovery works.
Cuba’s first vice president, along with the First Communist Party Secretary in the province, Jose Ramon Monteagudo, and local government president Teresita Romero, visited reconstruction works underway on damaged roads, in a large rice processing complex, fish cultivation farms and agricultural areas.
