India’s Foreign Minister to visit Cuba for bilateral talks
New Delhi, June 12, (RHC), -- India’s Foreign Affairs Minister, S M Krishna, will pay an official visit to Cuba from June 15 to 17, with the aim of deepening bilateral relations with the Caribbean island, Indian media reported on Tuesday.
During his visit, Krishna is slated to meet his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, to discuss bilateral, regional and international issues, an official statement by the Indian Foreign Ministry informed.
There is no confirmation on whether he will be meeting President Raul Castro.
Krishna, during the stay, will also chair the annual Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Regional Heads of Indian Missions (HOMs) conference in Havana June 16-17.
Companionship and understanding has always characterized Cuba´s relations with India, who was amongst the first countries to extend recognition to Cuba after the 1959 revolution.
Both nations maintain mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of sports, energy, biotechnology and information technology. /ZeeNews
