The Oil Perforation and Extraction Company in the province of Matanzas was among the entities that received special recognition for its environmental work, which was recognized by the selection of the province as the venue of the main activity to commemorate the World Environment Day.

An article in the official daily Granma pointed out that the sustained work of the company´s employees in preserving the environment by transporting oil through pipes contributed to today’s celebrations.

Geophysics engineer Yodalis Hernandez, a specialist with the company, said that their main goal is to increase the oil production without damaging the environment, thus working in harmony with nature.

She mentioned the use of what is called vegetable curtains to protect nature in the territories where the oil installations are located, while also contributing to the ecological balance.

Yodalis stressed the importance of the Cardenas-Varadero oil pipes, which allow for the crude to be transported without any risks. She explained that before they had to use ships or trucks to transport it.

The expert termed the inauguration of the ENERGAS plant as ‘very important.’ She said that it will work to eliminate gaseous sub products, produce electricity, as well as other substances like naphtha, liquid gas and sulfur.
