Wrestling Tourneys in China to Award Olympic Qualifications
Wrestlers from more than 80 countries will participate in the city of Taiyuan from April 27-29 in Greco-Roman and freestyle tournaments to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, the local media reported on Wednesday.
According to official sources, in the Chinese province of Shanxi, the two tourneys, to be attended by an estimated 1,000 wrestlers, will grant 50 qualifying slots for the upcoming world event.
The top three gladiators in the men's categories will ensure their presence at the Olympics in London, scheduled from August 5-12, while in the women's category, the first two wrestlers in each division will qualify for that competition.
