Chilean Teachers to Protest against Layoffs

Santiago de Chile, April 10 (PL-RHC) -- Chilean teachers have announced a demonstration for April 18th in Santiago’s Plaza de Armas and a march towards the Education Ministry to protest the layoff of more than 2,000 teachers that participated in last year’s protests for quality education at lower costs.

The Chairman of the Metropolitan Professor’s Association, Jorge Abedrapo, denounced strong persecutions against the sector, particularly in cities whose mayors side with Chile’s ultraconservatives.
