Peru Attracts Interest from Investors at World Economic Forum on Latin America
Lima, April 20 (ANDINA-RHC) -- Peru has attracted interest from foreign investors attending the World Economic Forum on Latin America, which took place in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
According to the country’s Vice President Marisol Espinoza, the good performance of the Peruvian economy and its growth prospects have piqued the interest of both investors and business leaders.
The official said Peru has been showcased at this forum as one of the fastest growing countries, above 6 percent at present, which is particularly important in times of global financial crisis.
Minister Espinoza noted that the event highlighted the efforts of President Ollanta Humala’s government to promote inclusive economic growth, with a focus on the poorest sectors of Peruvian society.
Espinoza, who is also a lawmaker from ruling Gana Perú party, said that during a meeting organized by the Peruvian Foreign Ministry, foreign entrepreneurs have expressed interest in developing infrastructure projects, such as road construction, in the country.
Next year’s World Economic Forum on Latin America will be held in the Peruvian capital of Lima, on April 23 through 25.
