Hugo Chavez Returns to Venezuela after Radiation Treatment in Cuba
Caracas, April 26 (RHC) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrived home early Thursday after undergoing a fourth round of radiation treatment for cancer in Cuba.
Upon his arrival at the Simon Bolivar International Airport in Maiquetía, the Venezuelan leader expressed his satisfaction to be back home and said that starting in May the government will advance several initiatives to improve the working conditions of Venezuelans with the enactment of the new Organic Labor Law.
On the plane, as he travelled from the Cuban capital, President Chavez sent a message through his Twitter microblog. The message reads: “Everyone is feeling happy because we are heading to our beloved Venezuela. Fidel and Raul (Castro) send their greetings! Long live Venezuela.”
The Venezuelan president left the Cuban capital for his country on Wednesday night. He was seen off by his Cuban counterpart, Raul Castro, and had a short, animated conversation at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport.
President Chavez had been in Cuba since April 15th, when he arrived in Havana to continue receiving radiation treatment.
