Colombia and Brazil Review Security & Cooperation Agreements
Bogotá, May 3 (PL-RHC) -- Ministers of Defence of Colombia, Juan Carlos Pinzón, and Brazil, Celso Amorim, discussed joint plans on security and cooperation during a bilateral meeting on Wednesday.
A statement issued by Colombia’s Ministry of Defense said that both ministers hope to strengthen the political and strategic relationship between the two countries on border security, protection of the Amazon area and the process of regional integration. The document also expressed the two officials’ intention to move forward in the strengthening of military cooperation with the development of several bilateral projects.
In addition, the meeting was the final stage in reaching an agreement for the exchange of experience and training in areas such as intelligence, peacekeeping operations, human rights and implementation of surveillance systems and border control.
