Damascus, May 18 (RHC)-- Syrian Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Mohammad al-Shaar says that Damascus has achieved a number of important victories in the pursuit of armed terrorist groups.

Speaking during a graduation ceremony of law enforcement officers and guards at the policy academy in the Syrian capital, al-Shaar blamed the United States, Israel and the West -- including several countries in the region such as Qatar and Saudi Arabia -- for their support of extremist and terrorist organizations.

Syrian Interior Minister al-Shaar pointed to the reforms that have been taken through laws and decrees issued by President Bashar al-Assad, pointing out that the Syrian people's support of their government has caused the terrorists to intensify their criminal actions to undermine the security and stability of Syria.

He called on those who have been misled by outside parties to carry out terrorist acts to turn themselves in to police and assured them that they would be treated fairly.
