Venezuelan People Stage Mass Rally in Support of Hugo Chavez
Caracas, May 28 (RHC) -- Thousands of Venezuelans staged a mass rally in the state of Anzoátegui to show their support for President Hugo Chavez, a few months before the October 7th general election.
First vice president of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, urged those present to consolidate their work to ensure the president’s victory.
He stressed the unity of the people of this South American country around the head of state; adding that this fact, together with people’s consciousness, will ruin the opposition’s plans to settle in the Miraflores Presidential Palace.
Cabello noted that while the opposition is defending a government plan based on exclusion and capitalist policies, President Chavez is promoting government programs based on an inclusive model.
In addition, the PSUV leader called on the president’s supporters to organize grassroots party groups into the Great Patriotic Pole and the ‘Batalla de Carabobo’ Campaign Command, to promote Chavez’s re-election.
Meanwhile, the Venezuelan president sent warm greetings to more than 500 intellectuals, artists and writers gathered in the Teresa Careño Theater, in Caracas, to create a socialist group as part of the Great Patriotic Pole.
