Ecuador may take Assange case to ICC

London, Aug 17, (RHC), -- The Ecuadorian government is examining the option to appeal the International Criminal Court if the British government fails to provide Julian Assange safe passage.

altEcuadorian presidential staff adviser Alexis Mera has announced that the Ecuadorian government would pursue every legal means to bring Assange to Ecuador.

Ecuador granted political asylum to the WikiLeaks founder, two months after Assange took refuge in Ecuador’s London embassy to avoid extradition to Sweden to face questioning for alleged sexual misconduct.

Britain has vowed to move ahead with extraditing Assange.  On Wednesday, Britain threatened to raid the embassy if Quito did not hand Assange over.
