Over 150,000 Chileans March to Demand Public Education

Santiago de Chile, August 29 (RHC) -- Over 150,000 Chileans participated in a march of workers and students to call for the establishment of a free educational system and other structural changes to the country.

Vice-President of the Student Federation of the University of Chile, Camila Vallego, emphasized that the Chilean population is fighting for a common goal, which is to recuperate the right to a public, quality education system. The student leader pointed out the variety of sectors that responded to the call for a national strike of the education system, and affirmed that the student protests are also calling for the recuperation of democracy in Chile.
