International
ballet gathering and competition will
get underway in Havana soon
The
National Arts Schools Center –CNEART-
and the National Ballet School of Cuba
are organizing the 17th International
Ballet Academies Encounter scheduled
for March 27th through April 10th, 2010.
The
event is aimed at gathering ballet experts,
professors, students and dancers interested
in upgrading their teaching, artistic
and methodological preparation and promoting
a friendly and necessary exchange among
participants and boost and develop the
study of ballet.
It
will also serve to raise the technical
and artistic quality through an active
participation in Practical ballet, Pointe,
Pas de Deux, Repertoire and Physical
Training classes, lectures, Cuban Ballet
School Teaching Methodology classes,
workshops on folklore, dance technique,
popular dances, makeup classes and others
and the artistic presentation of a piece
by the participating academies
The
Organizing Committee is made up of National
Ballet School Directress, Dr. Ramona
de Saà Bello as President; Deputy
Artistic Director Martha Iris Fernández
Agüero, B.A. as Vice-President;
and the Technical and Artistic Commission
includes professors Mirtha Hermida Roque,
B.A, and Arianne Velázquez.
The
teaching program will be given by experienced
and prestigious experts in the training
of dancers, who are now members of the
Cuban National Ballet, the Camagüey
Ballet and other first rate companies
in the world. Also on hand at the event
will be masters from different Cuban
institutions.
Professors
and specialists will have a program
that consists of practical and master
classes, lectures and exchanges with
cultural institutions. Along with the
pedagogical activity, the participating
academies will have an artistic program,
where each academy will stage a not-longer-than-8-minute
piece.
The
National Ballet School of Cuba is also
inviting young dancers to participate
in the 11th International Ballet Students
Competition scheduled to be held in
Havana from April 6th through 10th,
20l0.
Students will be classified in three
age categories: First category (13 –
14 years) Junior I, 2nd category (15
– 16 years) Junior II, and Third
category (17 – 19 years) Junior
III. All competitors will dance in a
first and second eliminatory round and
students who score the necessary points
will take part in the competition’s
third round. The Pas de Deux will include
adagio, variations and coda.
Awards will include a 1st, 2nd and 3rd
prize, which will be granted by sex,
modality and category. The jury will
also grant special awards, such as G
a Grand Prix, Competition’s Revelation,
Best Couple and Best Individual Performance.
Each competitor will be given a participation
diploma.
Registration
frees include $ 250.00 CUC for two weeks,
$ 150.00 CUC for 7 days, $ 50.00 CUC
for companions, and $ 50.00 CUC for
competitors, plus the registration free.
