Armand Duplantis
Havana, Jun 15 (RHC) Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis set his twelfth world record today by clearing the 6.28 meter bar at the Stockholm Diamond League athletics meeting, which was held in Stockholm, Sweden.
After securing victory and being the only one to jump 6.00 m, the pole vault prodigy improved his universal first-place finish on his first attempt in front of euphoric Swedish fans standing in the red brick Olympic stadium, built for the 1912 Olympic Games.
Once he cleared the height, Duplantis took off his yellow and blue jersey and ran straight into his mother's arms, in the venue where the most track and field world records have been set, something that had not happened since 1997.
The Swedish superstar won the event ahead of Australia's Kurtis Marschall (5.90m) and Menno Vloon from the Netherlands (5.80m).
