Several Cuban musicians nominated for Latin Grammy

Sept 27, – Various Cuban productions have been nominated this year to the Latin Grammy Awards: the albums Border-free, by Chucho Valdés, La canción cubana, by Miriam Ramos, Vamos pa´ la fiesta, by the Septeto Santiaguero, and La Habana tiene su son, by the Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro.

Maestro Chucho Valdés and his Afro-Cuban Messengers compete for the Grammy in the category of Best Latin Jazz Album.

Competing in the Best Traditional Tropical Album category is singer Miriam Ramos' triptych La Canción, by Colibri Productions, which won the Grand Prize at the Cubadisco 2013 International Record Fair and Contest.

The Septeto Santiaguero and the Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro, the first one for its CD Vamos pa´la fiesta, under the Catalonian Picap record label, are in the same category. The Septeto Nacional Ignacio Piñeiro entered the contest with the CD La Habana tiene su son, by BisMusic.

Cuban singer, bassist, composer and band leader Juan Formell will also receive a special recognition at the ceremony of the 14th edition scheduled for November in the U.S. city of Las Vegas.
